Sending abroad

Sometimes I receive questions if I ship things from my wesbshop abroad. The answer is: yes, but it takes more time.

When an order is done regularly in my shop, I take effort to send it as soon as possible. After I receveived an orders there is some communication through mail about the price of sending and the different possibilities for shipping-services. This always works out fine.

When first a question is asked to inform if shipping abroad is possible at all, the communication starts different and doesn’t always go smoothly. Recently I received a question from Japan and I tried to answer but it seemed the email-adress was not correct. So I could not answer this question. This left me no other possibility than this way: a blog for everyone to read in which this question is answered.

Of course I can make this information (about sending abroad) more visable on my blog. I choose not to. If I would write this information more clearly on the first page of my blog, I would probably receive a lot more orders from abroad. And like I said: these orders from outside our own country do take a lot of time. Right now I don’t want too many of them.

So I keep it this way. People can order in my shop and when they fill in their country the shipping costs will be calculated automatically. Sometimes there is some correction on the shipping-fee and I inform them about that.
And people can ask through contact-formulier if I ship abroad, but then they need to fill in their email-adress correctly otherwise I cannot answer them.

Just before I started this blogpost, I received mail from Australië from someone who expressed her gratitude for me sending a typical Dutch embroidery book to her. It had just arrived at her place, she was verry happy with it and she said she hoped to meet me one day in the future (when she is able to visit Holland again). This is why I really am happy about sending things abroad: it brings so much joy!

And this is why I keep on doing it the way I have done it for some years now: I do not advertize with it, but surely it is possible to send my things abroad! And I certainly enjoy making you happy!
